How the countdown works

The answer is the number of calendar days between today’s date and the date you pick.

Days left = target date − today’s dateCounting today too adds 1. Weeks = days ÷ 7, with the remainder in days.

  1. Today comes from your deviceThe page reads today’s date from your device’s clock, so the count matches the calendar where you are.
  2. Whole days onlyDates are counted as calendar days, not 24-hour blocks, so a daylight saving time change never adds or drops a day.
  3. Weeks and months84 days is 12 weeks. From October 2 to December 25 is 2 months and 23 days: October 2 to December 2, then 23 more days.

Questions

Does the count include today?
Not by default. The count is the number of days you still have to wait: from today to the date, today excluded, so the day before shows 1 day. Tick “Count today too” if you want today counted as day one.
Which time zone does the countdown use?
Your own. The page reads today’s date from your device’s clock and counts whole calendar days, so daylight saving time changes never add or remove a day.
How are months counted?
Whole calendar months first, then the leftover days. From January 31, one month later is the last day of February, because February has no 31st.
